The studios you can visit with the most confidence come first. Three things decide this.
1. What people write about it on Studiofinder
We look at the average and the number of reviews written on our site, confirmed by email and checked by a person – together. With few reviews, we pull the score towards a neutral starting point (4.6), as if 10 average reviews were counted too. This way two five-star reviews can't beat thirty slightly lower ones. A studio with no reviews yet gets the starting point: having none isn't a disadvantage.
| Studio | Reviews | Score |
| Studio A | 5.0 · 2 reviews | 4,67 |
| Studio B | 4.9 · 30 reviews | 4,83 |
“Studio B” ranks higher: 30 reviews are stronger evidence, than 2.
2. How well known it is
We look at how many people opened the studio's page directly from Google search in the past 90 days – in other words, how many search for it by name. The order of our own lists doesn't affect this, so it doesn't reinforce itself. The effect tapers off gradually (a studio with ten times the visitors doesn't get ten times the advantage) and is at most 0.3 stars. We take the figure from our own traffic data, measured with cookie consent; no personal data is used.
3. How much you can learn about it
We check whether everything you need to decide is there:
- opening hours
- phone number
- website or booking page
- photo
- introduction
- what classes it offers
A complete profile gives an advantage of at most 0.1 star.
Running a studio and something's missing from your profile? Claim your profile – you can fill it in for free, and it counts from the next daily update.
Moved to the end of the list
Temporarily closed studios – you can't visit them right now. Permanently closed and misclassified places (e.g. not fitness studios) aren't listed.
What doesn't count
- whether the studio has claimed its profile, and which plan it uses;
- whether it pays us;
- whether anyone buys from the PatentDuo webshop;
- Google ratings: we don't store them or count them (under Google's terms of use we can't).
We don't run any studio ourselves, and we don't control any listed studio.
Paid placement
Studios on the Pro plan also appear at the top of the city, category, style and district lists in a separate “Featured studios” block, clearly labeled “Ad · paid placement”, at most six per list. Within the block, the order is the same as in the organic list.
In the “nearby” suggestions on studio profiles, a Pro studio may appear first in at most two places, labeled “Featured partner” with an “ad – paid placement” note above the block – but only if it's genuinely nearby: same type, and no farther than the farthest organic suggestion (in dense areas it may come from a wider 3 km radius). It doesn't push out the organic suggestions, and no paid competitor appears on a Pro studio's own page.
Paid placement doesn't override the order: in the organic list every studio – Pro studios included – is in its own, merit-based place, and whether it pays plays no part in that.
About ratings
- Reviews on Studiofinder – written on our site, confirmed by email and checked by a person; these count towards the order. How we check them and when we reject one: review policy.
- Google ratings – shown on the studio's page by Google's own official element if you click. We don't store or modify them, and they don't count towards the order. If you see a fake review, you can report it to Google.
Badges
Some studios earn badges (e.g. “Beginner-friendly”, “Quick to reply”, “Top 10 · Dist. XII”). Badges can't be bought: we verify and award the manual ones, and the automatic ones come from measurable data. The criteria for every badge are public: what the badges mean. Badges don't affect the order. At most two show on a Pro studio's featured card, and all of them on the Pro profile.
Classification
We classify whether a studio is pilates, yoga or fitness, which classes it offers and which district it's in – partly automatically. If we got it wrong, let us know and we'll fix it.
The formula
Score = review average + 0.3 × popularity + 0.1 × (available data / 6). Review average: (v ÷ (v + 10)) × average + (10 ÷ (v + 10)) × 4.6, where v is the number of Studiofinder reviews (with no reviews, 4.6). Popularity is a number between 0 and 1: the logarithm of the number of visitors arriving from Google search, reaching 1 for the top 10% of the field. With equal scores, a fixed order independent of the studio's name decides.
